About the DI Curriculum

The Diverse Intelligences Curriculum was born out of the 2023 Diverse Intelligences Summer Institute. DISI is an international community of early-career scholars that meets at St. Andrews University for four weeks each summer to discuss the origins, nature, and future of intelligence. During the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to attend DISI as a junior participant and intern, where I was given the task of developing the curriculum.

The Diverse Intelligences Curriculum seeks to take the core ideas of DISI and present them in a way that is accessible and engaging to advanced high school students. The course seeks to inform students about topics in science and technology related to intelligence, while also facilitating conversation about philosophical and practical implications for the future of humanity.

The full motivation for producing the curriculum and principles of design can be found on the syllabus.

About me

My name is Andrew Hurlbut. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I am currently a senior at the Woodside Priory School. My academic interests are broad, but I am especially interested in philosophy, physics, history, and computer science. Outside of school, I enjoy running cross country, playing tennis, backpacking, skiing, and traveling. I also like taking my dog for walks in the field across from my house, and playing piano.
